Frequently Asked Questions
Here we’ve answered some of the questions we hear most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, call or text the salon and we’ll talk it through.
Can I just walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome when we have the room. In summer the day fills early, so booking ahead is safer if you want a particular time. If you come in regularly, booking your next visit before you leave is the way to keep your usual slot.
How do I protect color-treated hair through a Hamptons summer?
Sun, saltwater and humidity are all hard on color. Use something with UV protection, rinse as soon as you are out of the ocean or the pool, and keep up regular deep conditioning. A leave-in before you swim, or simply a hat, does more than most people expect. Your stylist will point you at the right products for your color and your hair. The full summer guide is here.
What is a men’s cut like here?
Scissor work, cut to your face shape and hair type — layers, texture, the sides blended into the top. We will do a clipper cut if that is what you want, but it is not where we start. Most men come to us because they want a shape that grows out well, not just shorter hair.
How is a long haircut different from a short one?
More of it is shaping than cutting. Layers and texture on long hair have to balance against all the length you are keeping, so the sections we do not cut matter as much as the ones we do, and the blow-dry that sets the shape takes longer. That is what the difference in price reflects.
What goes into a single process color?
Color applied root to end. On longer or thicker hair that means more product and more time in the chair, which is what the price follows. A glaze for shine is usually included; if you would rather skip it, say so at the consultation and your stylist will tell you whether it changes the price. Sometimes it does.
What if I use a color you don’t carry?
Tell us the brand and the shade at the consultation. We can usually order it in, and where we cannot, we can match it with the lines we hold. A color you have been happy with for years should not have to change just because you have changed salons.
Do you offer a shampoo on its own?
Yes, for $25. It is not a quick wash and rinse — it is a proper scalp massage with products matched to your hair and scalp. Most people book it because they want twenty minutes to themselves.
How are salon products different from what I can buy in a store?
We color with L’Oréal Professionnel Majirel and INOA, All-Nutrient and Davines, and treat with Olaplex and Keratherapy. They are more concentrated than what is on a drugstore shelf, so you use less, and they are made without the fillers that dull color over time. The larger difference is that your stylist chooses them for your hair rather than you guessing in an aisle.
What happens on a first visit?
Park at Bridgehampton Commons, right outside, and come as you are. Arrive about ten minutes early so the desk can take a few details. Your stylist starts with a consultation: they look at your hair, ask how you live with it, and tell you what it needs and what it will cost before anything is mixed or cut. Not sure who to book? A fifteen-minute consultation is bookable on its own, at no charge.
Can I book a consultation without booking a service?
Yes. Choose Consultation on any stylist’s booking page. It is fifteen minutes in the chair, at no charge and with no obligation. Bring photos or bring nothing; you leave with a plan and a price, and you can book the service then or later.
How long will my appointment take?
Cuts and blowouts run 30 to 60 minutes depending on length. A glaze or single process is about an hour and a half including processing; highlights, balayage or a double process run two to three hours. Keratin is about two hours. The services page shows the time beside each price, and your first visit runs a little longer for the consultation.
What if I need to cancel, or I am running late?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy, and we appreciate at least 24 hours’ notice of any change to an appointment. The time then goes to someone on the waiting list. Text or call, or use the link in your confirmation. If you are running late, text us when you know. Past fifteen minutes we may need to shorten the service or find you another time so the next guest is not kept waiting. We do not take a card to book. Only repeated no-shows would mean a deposit on the next visit.
Can I come back for a tweak?
Of course. Come back within seven days and your stylist will make any tweak to the cut or color at no charge. Just tell the desk. Color in particular can look different once you have lived with it for a day, and we are always happy to see you.
I have a wedding coming up — who should I talk to?
Get in touch early; wedding dates go first. You will speak with a stylist who does bridal and event work, and once we have talked through what you want, we will send a short form covering the day, the dress and the look you have in mind. Trials are available, and most brides take one. Our wedding-hair timeline shows when each step happens.
